All The Pretty Horses

So horses are, like, pretty much my favorite animal ever. Here are a few pictures of some that I would really like to have some day…*Pipe Dreams*

The gorgeous and rare Friesian Appaloosa horse. They only cost several tens of thousands of dollars to import over from Europe.

The Gypsy Vanner Drum Horse. Big & beautiful!

Now this horse isn’t actually alive anymore. BUT, if I could, I would own this horse. Her name was Ruffian and she was probably one of the greatest racing fillies to have ever walked this earth. She died after running the biggest race of her life; a race she refused to lose as she had never lost one before. If only people had half as much dedication and perseverance as the this lovely little filly. RIP Ruffian.

Attractive Stuff

This post is dedicated to some of the lovely famous men Mamoonah & I find awesomely attractive. Feast your eyes.

Paul Wesley as Stefan Salvatore

Okay, so Mr. Wesley is just an all-around gorgeous man. It’s hard to find something we do NOT like on this guy. But, one of our #1 attraction factors is…his COLLARBONE. It’s just so darn beautiful.

collarbone<<<THAT COLLARBONE.

collarbone2<<<JUST LOOK AT IT.

Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore

The #1 attraction factor on this beautiful boy has to be his blue eyes, hands down. And that smile. Who can possibly resist this face….

lovey<<<HELLO GORGEOUS!

damon<<<THE SULTRY STARE.

Orlando Bloom as Legolas, Will Turner, etc.

Orlando Bloom. Need I say more? He always manages to portray the sweet, heroic guy each & every time. And it helps that his face is that of an angel.

orlando3<<<POLITE PIRATE WILL TURNER.

images<<<LADY BONER LEGOLAS. *drool*

Hunter Hayes as Himself

So this guy is amazing. He was playing on the stage with Hank Williams Jr. at 4 years old (video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etffxJVAwIc), and when he was around 19 he put out his first album which has been a huge success. Add that success to the face that he wrote or co-wrote all songs on the album, and played all 30+ instruments for the album, and he becomes a pretty impressive young man. And gorgeous. Lord, did I mention how gorgeous he is? There isn’t just one attraction factor I can put to him. Everything about him is just….pure lovely. Hunter Hayes, marry me?

tumblr_mhgr3cE0Re1rkbqc9o1_1280<<<FUTURE HUSBAND RIGHT HERE.

Hunter-Hayes<<<SINGIN’ HIS PRETTY LITTLE HEART OUT.

Hunter+Hayes+PNG<<<PURE. LOVE.

Wilson Bethel as Wade Kinsella

So this guy. He’s blonde. He’s got abs of steel. Dimples. Killer smile. One word: YES.

Shemar Moore as Derek Morgan

He gets into crazy killer’s heads, finds them, apprehends or kills them….All while looking mighty fine. Feast your eyes.

shemar_moore<<<THAT FACE.

shemar_moore_29<<<THAT BODY.

And that concludes this blog post of outrageously attractive men. Enjoy.

Mamoonah’s Love For Sarah & I

Mamoonah loves us.

It’s a very intense, interesting kind of love.

She loves us like an otter loves mussels.

She also likes to hold hands like otters do. It’s adorable, really.

Mamoonah also really enjoys sloths. I think she loves them almost more than she loves me & Sarah. It’s a close call some days.

When she sees us she’s all….

It’s really a very beautiful thing.

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!

You heard me…RUN! It’s the only way to save yourself!

Now that I have your attention, I’ll go ahead and get to the point. You see, my siblings, friends, and myself  are quite into zombies at the moment. Many of us are hooked on the hit AMC television series, The Walking Dead. This show follows a group of survivors as they try to, well, continue to survive in a post-zombie apocalyptic world.

We have a lot of fun with this show. My sister and I discuss what we would do if we were in that situation, and we have regular Skype chats to update our survival plans. Obviously, it’s mostly all in fun, but…What if our current obsession with zombies could help us…get healthier?

It all started for me with the movie Zombieland. Jesse Eisenberg plays a rather paranoid young person in a world that–you guessed it–has been infected with the dreaded zombie virus. Throughout the movie we are given “The Rules of Zombieland.” Rule #1 is indeed…CARDIO. This of course makes perfect sense. Zombies aren’t the fastest things in the world, but they can get around. How can you expect to survive the zombie apocalypse if you can’t run for beans?

And then…It happened. I stumbled across one of the newest, and most highly rated, iPod apps. It is very properly entitled “Zombies, Run!” In the app, you’re given 20 minute running missions to complete. As you run (to your own music) you collect vital items for the compound you’re staying at. With a little imagination, this app is completely amazing. It even comes complete with zombie chase sequences. You’re ears are filled with the moaning, groaning, and shuffling of the dreaded zombies. Now if that can’t get you to high-tail it back to base, I don’t know what will!

A few weeks after my discovery of the “Zombies, Run!” app, I found something EVEN BETTER. Yes, BETTER (didn’t think that was possible, did you?): The RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! 5k zombie obstacle course event. This isn’t just any old 5k marathon. It’s filled with intense, winding trials and man-made obstacles that you must navigate WHILE being chased by zombies.

So, this is how I am going to utilize my love of all these lovely zombie things to actually get healthier. I shall use the “Zombies, Run!” app to begin my training. I will, of course, be adding other things (my goals I posted earlier, etc.) to further my training. My ultimate goal is to run–and complete–the 5k zombie course on October 22, 2012 in California with my sister.

Now, it is not 100% that my sister is doing the marathon, or that I will be able to do it. However, I think that it will serve as a GREAT motivator for me. I do NOT relish the idea of losing to a bunch of stumbling, mumbling zombies. How embarrassing would that be? Besides, I have 215 days left to save up enough money for the plane ticket, entrance fee, and camping/food fees (if we decide to stay overnight).

I would love to take this moment to invite you all to join me on this crazy zombie mission. Download the running app and check out: http://runforyourlives.com/ for more information on the 5k course. I think this is a great way to get fit and HAVE FUN. Best of luck to you!

Weight Loss & Confidence

I’ve been a “big girl” for as long as I can remember. When I was in school, I was always teased in the locker room for being fat. For a while, I was able to just shrug it off. Why should I believe girls who started rumors just for the fun of it? After a while, though, it became nearly impossible to ignore. Not only was a still being teased, but I really was gaining weight.

Ever since then, I’ve tried numerous different things to try to lose weight; and each and every attempt was a failure. For a while I tried skipping meals. I’d skip breakfast and lunch, and then nibble on dinner a little bit (I usually claimed that I ate a big lunch, of course). By the time 9PM rolled around, however, I felt ravenous. I’d binge…Chips, pop, leftover pizza, whatever I could get my hands on. It was a terrible cycle.

I learned to hate my body; I learned to hate myself. Any time I saw myself in the mirror, I couldn’t help but be disgusted by what I saw. I felt embarrassed to go shopping. Trying on clothes was an absolute nightmare. I couldn’t just go out and have fun trying things on with my friends because I could never find anything that fit. Nearly all of my friends are also incredibly skinny, so standing next to them was always yet another reminder that I was big.

I felt totally inadequate. I had been convinced by society and those around me that I wasn’t good enough because of my size; that guys wouldn’t like me if I didn’t have a thin, perfect bikini-ready body. My self-confidence was completely ruined by the time I graduated high school and went to college. I couldn’t look people in the eye because I simply didn’t have the confidence or courage to. I didn’t think that I was even worth talking to.

At the end of my first semester of college, however, things began to shift. I finally realized that of course nobody is going to love me…I don’t love myself! I can’t expect others to feel good about me when I can’t even do it. I knew that trying to starve myself wasn’t going to get me anywhere; it always just ended up making me eat way more unhealthy food than I needed to.

I’ve been making slow and steady progress every since I had that epiphany. I’ve slowly been changing my eating habits. I’ve also joined the Zumba class that’s offered here. I started out just once a week, and this week I will be going 4 times a week. Small changes are the ones that seem to have the biggest impact. I’ve lost 10 pounds so far, and I’m thrilled.

Instead of obsessing over what people think of me, I’ve learned to set my own goals. My short-term goals are simple, and practical. I do have some longer term goals, however, that my short-term ones are going to help me accomplish.

So, my goals:

SHORT TERM FOR THIS WEEK

  • Attend Zumba 4 days
  • Do an 8 minute ab workout twice
  • Do an 8 minute arm workout twice
  • Drink more water
  • Have only one glass of pop
  • Have only one dessert
  • But a lot of fruits & veggies (and eat them)

LONG TERM

  • Eat a mostly organic diet
  • Completely quit drinking pop
  • Have a diet “cheat day” once a month
  • Go for a walk every day
  • Jog at least 3 times/week
  • Zumba at least 3 times/week
  • Swim regularly
  • Horseback ride at least 3 times/week

So, that’s all I’ve got for now. I could probably go on and on a lot longer about this, but that’d get quite boring quite fast! Now, for all of those struggling with same thing I am, I shall leave you with this picture that I found rather inspiring:

Don’t you think it’s time to shut that slut up? I sure do! 🙂

Buckling Down

Well. This blog has been a bit of a failure this year. This fact saddens me a bit. I’ve always wanted to be one of those dedicated bloggers, but I have a horrible tendency of forgetting about it (obviously)! A couple of my friends are much more regular bloggers, and I thoroughly enjoy reading what they have to say. Reading their blogs today made me recall the fact that I have one, too! I feel more determined than ever to keep a weekly blog. I need to do it to myself; to prove that I can do it. Plus, I think it’ll be nice to have a place to regularly vent and rant and, well,…Ramble on whatever the hell I want. Now let’s just hope this works! 🙂

The Simple Joys of Pasties

I recently ordered 4 homemade pasties from a place called Pasty Central. After days of impatiently waited, they have finally arrived. It is truly amazing how much comfort such a simple thing can bring to one so far away from home. Within the delicious aroma and golden, flaky crust of that pasty lies countless memories of my home. The evenings spend gathered around Gramma E’s warm and friendly kitchen; elbow-to-elbow digging into one of her homemade pieces of Heaven. The air thick with the aroma of wonderful food, and great company. There are so many conversations going on at once around the table that an outsider would probably find it impossible to follow any one of them. So much laughter and joy surrounding us. The pasty, to me, represents my family and the generations before us. So much has been shared at those meals, so many amazing memories made. I can only hope that I will one day be able to share in creating such unforgettable and comforting memories with my children one day.
